The Maximum Rate is usually a simple formula defined as a multiple of the LIBOR or TBMA index. Specifying the Maximum Rate will help buyers determine how much to bid for your Auction Rate Security. ESER highly recommends filling in this value.

The interest rate on an Auction Rate Security (ARS) is reset through a dutch auction. Interest is paid at the end of each auction period. Auctions are typcially held every 7, 28, or 35 days. The number of days between auctions is called the "Reset Period" of the Auction Rate Security.
